Wine Review-Chateau Morrisette Petit Verdot

Region: Blue Ridge, Central Virginia
Vintage: 2008

This is a wine we bought while we were on our road trip this summer on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We brought it home, I put it in wine storage for approximately three months, then brought it out for steak night tonight. If you’re a regular reader of my blog you’ll remember me talking about our Blue Ridge Parkway trip and Chateau Morrisette, located on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 171.5. You’ll notice I included front and back label photos of this wine because it’s a special wine. We remembered we really enjoyed this wine during our wine tasting at the winery, but had forgotten how truly great this wine is. I think it’s so good for this time of year with tones of blackberry, plum and a peppery finish. It’s perfectly balanced and just enough tanins to provide a robust finish. This varietal is listed as placing in several competitions on the winery web site, getting both bronze and silver medals. We enjoyed this wine with salad, sharp cheese and grilled steaks.

Cost: $29.99

Okay now time for the drumroll please…

Rating: We’re making history here readers, for the first time ever, I’m awarding a perfect rating. Chateau Morrisette Petit Verdot gets a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars. It’s an excellent wine and deserves a top rating.

Early Happy TGIF and keep tasting. xoxo
