Wine Review: Night Harvest Merlot

Region: California

Vineyard: R.H. Phillips

Night Harvest Merlot was a nice surprise. I’d class it as a recession wine, due to it’s low cost. I picked it up on my last visit to (shudder) WalMart and it cost less than $4.00. I served it on steak night with grilled steak and shrimp and we finished off the bottle with an Almond and Sea Salt Chocolove Bar. The merlot had notes of cherry, spicy cedar, plum and oak. It was very well balanced and was a really good wine. I’ll be buying this one again.

Rating: I gave this 4 out of 5 stars.

Cost $3.47

I agree with this review. Was skeptical at first (with the fake cork and low price) though this turned out to be my favourite bottle on the cheap!
