Unofficial Start of Summer

Those of you who know me personally, know I thrive in warm weather. I’m writing this at 8 pm and it’s still 80 degrees!!! I stretch Summer out as long as possible, today is the beginning of my Summer and Summer lasts until after Labor Day lol!

We have so many projects which are ongoing. My husband and I planted a large garden, most of the plants we grew from seed. I still have more plants for it, which I am currently “hardening”, hopefully they’ll be ready to set out by the weekend. In our yard I set out a couple of additional old-fashioned lilac bushes by the drive, five Rose of Sharon bushes, five additional forsythias and I started a bed of lavender which I hope to harvest each year.

I’m enjoying the herb project, I have lots of teas and medicinal herbs growing, Chamomile, Echinacea and Lemon Grass, to name a few. I sowed a large bed of sweet basil and dill and pots of peppermint, spearmint and chocolate mint.

Our mini orchard is coming along nicely. One on side of our house we planted a couple of blueberry bushes, a couple of apple trees and 50 strawberry plants. I’m hoping in a few years this will be a magical area in the yard.

I’ve rambled enough for one night, keep tasting xoxo!
