Weekend, Thanksgiving Plans and Sephora

Although we’ve already had two snows, which is two too many, this weekend the weather is gorgeous. I took advantage of some sales today and began some Christmas shopping. It’s kinda early for even me, but I’d really like to get it completed, wrapped and enjoy the upcoming Christmas season.

I’ve not been reading as much lately but I finished Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I really enjoyed this book, it had lots of surprise plot twists and suspense. I recently began reading The Life of Pi by Yann Martel. I’m finding this novel to be a slow go because it’s quite descriptive but I really want to finish it as I’ve been told it’s totally worth the effort. As the saying goes, I finish one book and five to my potential reading list. My local library had a book sale this weekend with old and new books but I mean seriously, does anyone purchase paper books anymore? I haven’t bought an actual book with the exception of maybe a couple of cookbooks and some classic chapter books for my niece in years. They’re so much cheaper on the Kindle and you get it delivered immediately. I love books as much as anyone but I guess I’m a total Kindle convert.

Today I’ve been thinking about Thanksgiving coming up in a couple of weeks. I need to decide what I’m going to be cooking and give it a practice run or two. I suppose I’ll be making a couple of veggie dishes along with a dessert or two. I try to do something different every year. With my love of pumpkin, the only problem is deciding which desserts to prepare. Last year I did some rustic roasted fall veggies, sweet potatoes, turnips, and winter squash, along with baked stuffed pumpkins for my side dishes and a blackberry wine cake. This year I think I’ll do a warm Autumn salad, broccoli slaw and possibly pumpkin pie white chocolate cups and pumpkin pie cupcakes for dessert, but I’m not sure, we’ll see.

Sephora is having their annual VIB 20% off sale. I had been waiting for this, so I stocked up on some basics which I’ve been out of for a couple of weeks and I also got a couple of new goodies which I’ve never bought, but wanted to try. I got a couple of the Smashbox Photo Finish Primers which I can’t seem to do without, I love this stuff. I got a few of the dark ToykoMilk items, a fragrance and couple of the lip elixers and an OPI red glitter polish. With my order I received a bonus free Sephora tote and a variety of samples. I also used my points for three of the bonus purchases for VIB members. My items shipped yesterday, the day after I ordered. This is why I love Sephora, they have great service, awesome products, rewards for VIB members and quick shipping.
