Wine Review: Flip Flop Merlot, Left Coast

flipflop merlotI haven’t done many wine reviews lately but while shopping last week I picked up this wine. Don’t be put off by the screw on cap, or the low cost, it’s a Chilean Merlot which is really well balanced, featuring notes of plum and mocha. With Flip Flop Merlot winning double gold at the Florida State Fair International Wine Competition in 2011, it’s an excellent choice for table wine or casual get together’s. I served this merlot with a spicy Korean Beef and it complimented the dish nicely. Oh, as an added bonus, the great thing about Flip Flop Wine, proceeds from Flip Flop wines benefits Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity dedicated to providing footwear to those in need. I love a wine with a cause. I’d definitely classify Flip Flop as a “recession wine” only $5 at WalMart. I’ll be buying more of this in the future.

Cost: Very Inexpensive $5
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars
